Spinning Diplomats’ Tweets Gives Somalia Political Rift a New Twist

Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The unresolved political rift between Somalia President and his Prime Minister gives spin doctors an opportunity to polish the image of their bosses.

The latest saga pits the state correspondent at Office of the Prime Minister against those of Villa Somalia. “H.E PM @MohamedHRoble received a call from the UK Minister for Africa @vickyford where they discussed the political situation in #Somalia, assuring the PM of UK’s support towards the NCC meeting & the PM’s leadership in expediting the conclusion of credible elections” the correspondent tweeted.

Somalia Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble claims that Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed is no longer in power that the Prime Minister exercises the constitutional duty as a caretaker leader.

“I just spoke to Prime Minister @MohamedHRoble to reiterate UK support for an urgent NCC meeting to address electoral concerns and secure a swift, credible outcome. All parties must refrain from provocative actions and avoid violence” tweeted Vicky Ford.

Leaders of the Federal Member States and Governor of Banadir region will meet to finalize the electoral process. Selection of MPs will take place without the oversight of the Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT). Roble lobbied Puntland and Jubaland State Presidents to have some articles in the electoral model modified and FEIT members replaced with new members. South West State boycotted the summit publicized by Roble.
