Former Puntland Vice President Laid to Rest

Abdisamad Ali Shire passed away in Mogadishu.

Garowe (PP News Desk) — The former Puntland Vice Abdisamad Ali Shire was laid to rest in Garowe. Abdisamad passed away in Mogadishu, where he was undergoing treatment.

Abdisamad was elected a Vice President in 2009 to serve under President Abdirahman Mohamud Farole. Before 1991 Abdisamad was a career soldier, who had been promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the Somali National Army.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has sent a message of condolence to the family of the late Abdisamad Ali Shire.

Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni paid a tribute to the late Puntland Vice President whom he described as hardworking, loyal and peacemaker. Abdisamad was living in Hargeisa before he had fallen ill.

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed sent a message of condolence to the family of the late Abdisamad Ali Shire.
