Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — Banadir yesterday beat Galmudug State to win The Somali regional 2020 tournament trophy.
Thousands of supporters flocked to the stadium in Mogadishu to watch the final match. The set time for the match ended in 2:2 draw. A penalty shootout secured Banadir the win with 3 goals against Galmudug, which managed to score no goals during the panalty shootout.
The President of Federal Government Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, who was watching the live match at Villa Somalia, congratulated Banadir for winning the tournament.
The Mayor of Mogadishu and Banadir regional governor, Omar Mohamud, sent a congratulatory message to Banadir football team.
The Regional Tournament was reintroduced in 2016. Puntland, Jubaland and Banadir won the cup to date.
