A PUNTLAND MP CRITICISES REORGANISATION OF BOSASO INTO FOUR NEIGHBOURHOODS

Bosaso ( PP News Desk ) —  Abdirahman Mohamud Dhorreh, a Member of Puntland Parliament from Sanaag and Bari regions, has criticised the reorganisation of Bosaso into four neighbourhoods. The reorganisation is billed as a part of decentralisation initiative for Bosaso city.

Mr Dhorreh has singled out Puntland Interior Minister Mohammed Abdirahman Dhaban’ad for “incitement and usurping the role of Bosaso Mayor to divide Bosaso into four neighbourhoods”. He called on Puntland Interior Minister to stop interfering in the administration of the commercial city of Puntland. “The neighbourhoods of Bosaso and how people co-exist are well-known. One must respect inhabitants of every district” Mr Dhorreh wrote in his Facebook account.

Bosaso district administration views the reorganisation of neighbourhoods as a part of the decentralisation effort to deliver public services efficiently

Under the new reorganisation scheme Bosaso will have four neighbourhoods — Banderqaasim and Baalade in the northern part of Bosaso, and Buur-cad iyo Biyo-kulule in the eastern part.

Bosaso district administration said the decentralisation and reorganisation will facilitate the delivery of public services in the business city efficiently.

Bosaso had sixteen neighbourhoods before the Puntland Interior Ministry had launched decentralisation-based reorganisation.
