PUNTLAND NON-STATE ACTORS ISSUE A STATEMENT ON THE POLITICAL DEADLOCK

Garowe (PP News Desk) —  As the power struggle between Puntland President Said A. Deni and his Vice President Ahmed Elmi continues, members of Puntland civil society are calling for a solution to the constitutional crisis.

The Chairman of Puntland Non-state Actors Association Faysal Ahmed Warsame has briefed the media on a meeting civil society members had with Puntland President and Vice President.

“The President of Puntland State and Vice President are committed to ending the political deadlock” PUNSAA statement reads.

Faysal said political differences between the President and Vice President “are of adminstrative nature but not personal”.

He urged people to refrain from exaggerating the constitutional crisis that has brought Puntland institutions to standstill. “Inflammatory remarks that damage cohesion must be avoided” Faysal said.

Yesterday Puntland State TV broadcast a meeting of elders in Taleh in which they voiced a support for the controversial Puntland cabinet reshuffles by President Deni.
