President Deni: The Federal Government is fanning hostilities in Somaliland

Garowe (PP News Desk ) — President of Puntland State Said Abdullahi Deni has accused the Federal Government of Somalia of fomenting hostilities in the Self-proclaimed Republic of Somaliland.

“The Federal Government is dealing directly with clans and inciting people to rebel against the [Somaliland] Government” President said in an interview with BBC Somali Television.

In response to a question about the call from the Somaliland President for a new approach to Somalia-Somaliland talks, President Deni asserted that Puntland had a right to be consulted on the talks “due to the territorial dispute between Puntland and Somaliland”.

The BBC interview with Puntland State President comes on the heels of of views Deni had expressed about the security situation in Mogadishu. President Deni made remarks that may be interpreted that the Federal Government was  behind mortars used to target Halane Compound where Embassies and major international organisations are based.
