PUNTLAND ACCUSES THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY OF CLAIMING UNFOUNDED ASSISTANCE FOR THE SOMALI SECURITY SECTOR

Garowe (PP News Desk) — Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni has lashed out at the International Community for not providing assistance to Puntland security sector.

President Deni has given a statement in the aftermath of the suicide bombing that cost the lives of Mudug Governor, three bodyguards and three persons in Galka’yo. “I am sorry to say that the International Community falsely claims to support the Somali security sector. I state that the International Community does not contribute anything to the Puntland security  sector.

President Deni said that the International Community is not ready to assist Puntland in the security sector and that it is backing a lopsided political change in Somalia.

Puntland State forces are organised along clan lines. President Deni launched a security reform premised on what he described as “self-funded”. President Deni has called for Puntlanders to adopt self-reliance.
