Job Description.

Job Title:         HMIS Supervisor

Job Status:      Full time40 hours/week

Reports to:      health and nutrition Officer

Length of contract: 12 month

Expected date of start: As Soon as Possible

Position location: This position will be based in Qandala distrct (Balidhidin) with substantive travel to project sites across Qandala ditrcit.

 Background:

Integrated Services for Displaced Population (ISDP) is a Somalia humanitarian Non-Profit Organization registered in federal government of Somalia and its federal member states, ISD was founded in 2010 and since it’s inception it has successfully implemented different development project in Puntland state of Somalia. ISDP is operational in Bari, Nugaal, Karkaar and Mudug regions with track record in implementing high quality health and nutrition, Food Security, Livelihood, protection and WASH interventions by providing essential services to conflict and disaster affected communities. ISDP targets to supports Internal Displace People, Refugees, Vulnerable households, drought affected communities, children and hard to reach people living in Somalia.

ISDP currently partnership with key government institutions in Puntland, and UN agencies with close working relations with local communities in Puntland.

Role and the Purpose of the post

The purpose of the position is to strengthen collection of quality Nutrition and Health Management Information within ISDP supported facilities/sites and collaborate with MOH Regional and district HMIS focal persons in coordination and strengthening of Nutrition and Health Information Management functions.

The HMIS supervisor will perform a variety of nutrition and health record related duties such as data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis of data, validation and editing of information, and release of information in accordance with established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures, by utilizing computerized systems and related software applications.

Key area of accountability:

  • Collect, Review data originating from ISDP supported static and mobile facilities and to ensure that is valid, accurate and of high integrity.
  • Update project databases at the field level and submit to project coordinator on weekly, monthly basis and quarterly basis.
  • Provide supportive supervision to fixed and outreach health and nutrition facilities and monthly data review and feedback meetings with fixed, outreach and mobile health and nutrition facility staff and MOH counterparts.
  • Closely collaborate with the Regional, District and National HMIS officers in the process of collection and analysis of health and nutrition-related data.
  • Ensure timely transmission of information and data from the Qandala district health facilities.
  • Conduct data quality audits routinely and participate in project evaluation.
  • Support health facilities staff to measure progress and use data for decision making and planning.
  • Supervision and monitoring of health and nutrition activities and programmes at facility, outreach mobile and community levels.
  • Identify staff training needs regarding health records management and reporting.
  • Ensures collected data (Health and Nutrition) are Saved, stored in order filling/ folders systems in sequence and orderly both in softcopy and hardcopy.
  • Perform any other extra duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in public health or statistics, or HNMIS (Health and Nutrition Management Information).
  • Nursing degree or any equivalent with experience of working in programs
  • Proven experience in report writing.
  • Flexibility and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with good spoken and written English and Somali language (mandatory)
  • Ability to understand the cultural and political environment and to work well with local representatives and project staff in a consultative and participatory approach.
