THE SOMALI PRIME MINISTER “LOSES PARLIAMENTARY VOTE OF CONFIDENCE”

Mogadishu (PPM) — In a televised statement the Speaker of the Somali Federal Government Mohammed Mursal has declared that “the Federal Government of Somalia has lost parliamentary confidence.”

Mursal: Failure to prepare Somalia for one person, one vote elections justifies loss of parliamentary vote of confidence

Failure to prepare Somalia for one person, one vote elections is the cause cited by the Parliamentary Speaker. “The violation of article 54 of the Electoral Law manifested in, among other things, failure to form security forces to secure poll stations in cooperation with the National Independent Electoral Commission” justifies loss of the parliamentary confidence, said Mursal.

178 MPs attended the parliamentary session today. “170 MPs voted for loss of parliamentary confidence against the Federal Government; 8 MPs voted in favour of the Federal Government” the Parliamentary Speaker said.

If Prime Minister accepts the loss of the parliamentary confidence, President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed will have appoint a new Prime Minister. Analysts believe a term extension is the pipeline for Federal Institutions — the Presidency, the Upper House and the Federal Parliament.
