Locals have lodged a complaint with Somaliland Covid-19 Prevention Committee. People are particularly concerned about health repercussions from cremating bodies in Geed-deeble valley, one of water sources for lical and  Hargeysa city.

“About thirty persons conducted the open-air cremation. We are worried that the make-shift cremation will put people’s lives at risk from Covid-19” said a man who spoke to the media at the scene.

People who conducted the cremation process had left equipment at the scene. “We saw the remains being buried in the valley. There were armed soldiers who denied us access to the scene of the cremation” said another local resident.

Xeedho residents have called for Somaliland Government to investigate the cremation incident.
