Garowe (PP News Desk) — One day after Puntland Post published a report on a primary school in Eyl where pupils sit on the floor in classrooms without teaching aids, Kaalo Netherlands, an NGO, today donated desks and chairs to the school.
“We are donating desks and chairs to the school through the Nugaal Regional Education Authority. Supporting educational institutions means supporting the future of our children. Let us support the Ministry of Education in this endeavour,” Abdisalam Karod, the Chairman of Kaalo Netherlands, wrote on his Facebook page.
Photos of pupils at the coeducational primary school in the Badey neighbourhood in Eyl, sitting on the floor, sparked outrage in Puntland. The Puntland Ministry of Education has not commented on the dire educational situation, despite the regional education budget earmarked for the Nugaal Regional Education Authority.
