British Government Support for Somaliland Forces ‘Denounced’

Diplomatic perfidy: The British taxpayers’ money funds forces indiscriminately shelling Laascaanood in Northern Somalia.

London (PP News Desk) — Demonstrators today gathered in central London today to voice their concerns about the British government’s support for the break-away Somaliland Administration forces.

Despite its one-Somalia policy, the British government funds Somaliland security forces shelling Laascaanood under the pretext that the district is not a part of the Federal Republic of Somalia. “UK Government must stop funding Somaliland massacres” reads one placard about the indiscriminate shelling of Laascaanood by Somaliland forces waging a secession war.

“The British government’s support for Somaliland forces does not only open up old wounds but it also makes mockery of London’s role in state-building initiatives in Somalia following the end of the transition in 2012” said Ibrahim, a retired chartered accountant, who said he had come to central London from Harrow to show solidarity with the people of Laascaanood.

Yesterday, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Dr Hassan Sheikh Mohamud called on Somaliland leaders to respect the unionist sentiments of Laascaanood people “since we are forcing unionist sentiments on people who support secession”.
