Laascaanood (PP News Desk) — The Mayor of Laascaanood district Abdulrahim Ali Ismail today accused Somaliland forces of shelling residential areas, hospitals and mosques in Laascaanood.
“I am standing here in Laascaanood Hospital with district councillors to witness damages caused to the hospital by indiscriminate shelling by Somaliland forces. There are no terrorists In Laascaanood. The people of Laascaanood are fighting Somaliland forces. I urge [President] Muse Bihi to withdraw his troops” said the Mayor.
The Mayor’s statement is a further blow to Bihi’s government that is waging a secessionist war against people of Laascaanood. Yesterday, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud called on Somaliland leaders to respect the wishes of people.
Meanwhile, the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs Minister Ahmed Fiqi publicised the government’s positon in support of 6/2/2023 Laascaanood Declarations.
Puntland State of Somalia equally supported the declaration that, among other thing, emphasised that the Federal Government of Somalia represents Laascaanood, and called for the withdrawal of Somaliland forces in SSC territories.
