The State Department Denounces ‘Suspension’ of Somalia PM

President Mohamed suspended powers of the Roble, the PM, on grounds of corruption allegations.

Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The Bureau of African Affairs at the State Depart denounced “the attempted suspension of” the Somalia Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, and threatened to “act against those who obstruct Somalia’s path to peace.” Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Mogadishu called on “leaders to de-escalate tensions and refrain from all provocations or use of force”.

A joint statement by the International Partners of Somalia emphasized the convening of a meeting by the National Consultative Council to conduct elections “that will enjoy the confidence of the Somali people.”

The second phase of the electoral process is underway at the Federal Member States to select MPs following the selection of Senators conducted without the oversight of Federal Electoral Implementation Team in line with the electoral agreement.
