A Traditional Leader Denounces Forced Displacement by Somaliland Administration

Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — Boqor Osman Aw Mohamud of Bura’o today held a meeting with traditional leaders of South West State in Mogadishu to commiserate with them over the forced displacement of more than 1600 Somalis in Las Anod.

“I apologise to you for what Somaliland President, Somaliland Interior Minister and Somaliland Police Force Commander have done to forcibly displace people in Las Anod. I came to Mogadishu to express my dismay over what your people have been through” said Boqor Osman.

Boqor Osman demanded restitution for Somalis forcibly displaced in Las Anod by Somaliland administration.

The influential traditional leader demanded restitution for the victims of the forced displacement. Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi defended the infamous decision to forcibly displace Somali citizens in Las Anod under the pretext that they are foreigners.

Victims of the forced displacement have properties and businesses in Las Anod and other Northern districts. Boqor Osman promised displaced persons that their businesses and properties would be looked after.
