Garowe (PP News Desk) — Puntland Transitional Electoral Commision today received a voter regulation system from PIITECH, an IT consultancy.
The equipment will be used to register voters at the three districts designated for pilot local government elections to take place in 2021.
In 2020 PIITECH won a tender to supply the voter registration system to be used by TPEC.
Ten political associations will contest the pilot local elections. Three of them will graduate to political parties.
Mohammed Ismail Siibad, the Chairman of Mustaqbal, a political association, slammed TPEC for violating the electoral roadmap and the universal suffrage stipulated in the Puntland Constitution to conduct elections only in three districs.
