Ceerigaabo (PP News Desk) — Fiqifuliye district Traditional leaders inaugurated a hospital funded by the diaspora members from the district.
“ Sahra Abdulqadir funded the first part of the construction. Other Fiqifuliye diaspora members have funded the completion of the hospital construction” said Abdirisaq Yusuf Mohammed, whom diaspora members had appointed to oversee the hospital construction project.
“ Sixteen villages come under the jurisdiction of Fiqifuliye. Many maternal deaths occur in the district particularly when expecting mothers are being transported to faraway hospitals. The nearest town is 90 km to Fiqifuliye. We would like administrations to help us with equipping Accident and Emergecy section and minor surgeries theatre as a part of the hospital” said Dr Hawa Gelle Nur.
Chief Aqil Mohamed Farah thanked diaspora members from Fiqifuliye who funded the construction of the hospital. “You have set an example for other people to follow” said the Chief Aqil.
Somaliland Ministry of Health officials are planning to visit the hospital building to explore how it can be funded and integrated into Sanaag public health organisations.
