PUNTLAND STATE RELAXES THE LOCKDOWN

Garowe (PP News Desk) —  Puntland State Government has relaxed the lockdown ahead of Eid Al Fitr. The relaxation of the lockdown will come into effect today.

According to a statement  released by Puntland Committee for Covid-19 Prevention, “restrictions on travel and business has been relaxed from 18 May 2020.”

The Committee has lifted the moratorium on khat businesses. “People selling or buying khat must follow the health advice and wear a face mask and maintain two-metre social distancing” the statement reads. After the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan the Committee for Covid-19 Prevention will review the decision to relax the lockdown.

Puntland has seen an increase in the number of people, including Cabinet Ministers,  who had fallen ill with Covid-19.
