Puntland Ministry of Women opens a conference on women’s obstacles

The Puntland Ministry of Women Development and Family Affairs in collaboration with the UNFPA, opened in Garowe, a conference on women’s obstacles, particularly in terms of economy, health, and political participation.

The conference was attended by; UNFPA officials, UNSOM, embassies Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, officials of Uppsala University in Sweden, members of local and international NGOs, former first lady of Puntland, Drs Hodan Saeed Isse and other honorable guests.

Minister of Women Development and Family Affairs, Mrs. Maryan Ahmed Ali emphasized the purpose of the conference, saying it is debating topics on women’s barriers to economic, health and political roles and how to overcome obstacles.

The minister also highlighted the 2018 Ministry’s achievements, including 100 girls received free scholarships and established 6 centres for the care of women abused.
