VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL TRAINERS (ELECTRICITY/PRACTICAL TRAINERS)

Position: Workshop Instructors – Electricity/Solar Practical Trainers (2 positions)

Background

NECSOM Technical Institute (NTI) is a non-profit technical institute that has been established by the National Energy Corporation of Somalia (NECSOM) as a technical institute with the main aim to develop the skills of Somali youth for the economic development and unemployment reduction. NTI is looking for a qualified senior workshop instructor (Electricity/Solar Practical Trainers) with extensive practical 3-6 years of experience in teaching recognized TVET institutions.

Requirements for the position:

1. Bachelor’s degree or a Higher National Diploma in any of the following specializations; Electrical Engineering, Electrical, and Electronics Engineering, Electrical Thermodynamics, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized TVET institution.
2. Extensive practical 3-6 years of experience in teaching Electivity subjects at recognized TVET institutions.
3. Registered by a Relevant Professional Body; and
4. Proficiency in computer application skills
5. Extensive practical 3-6 years of experience in teaching Electivity subjects at recognized TVET institutions.

Preference will be given to candidates who:

Have a bachelor, or other advanced degrees in a related field, or relevant work experience related
to:

 Renewable Energy
 Electricity/Solar Installation
 Renewable Energy Policy
 Energy Efficiency
 Sustainability
 Communication
 Education or Education Administration

Duties and responsibilities:

1. Undertaking training in areas of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;
2. Preparing teaching/learning materials and schemes of work;
3. Commitment to the development of a high-quality Electricity/solar workforce
4. Setting and marking examination/assignment;
5. Carrying out research work under the guidance and supervision of a senior trainer; and
6. Supervising trainers’ projects and practical work
7. Familiar with the Electricity/solar industry including available training programs, credentials, markets, and international and national utility policies and programs.
8. Organizing and focusing with proven ability to prioritize and complete activities with deadlines
9. Having construction experience and familiarity with building codes
10. Familiar with solar equipment, required listings & ratings
11. Familiar with required local and national electrical codes (Electrician or electrical experience preferred)
12. Able to present to racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities and audiences.

Contract Duration

One year with possible extension
