Nairobi (PP News Desk) — A day after the Kenyan Foreign Ministry issued a clarification regarding the Somaliland Administration’s Liaison Office in Nairobi, reaffirming its commitment to respecting the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Ministry’s official website has come under scrutiny for listing a non-existent embassy of the self-proclaimed “Republic of Somaliland.”
“This contradictory position requires urgent rectification by the Kenyan government,” said a senior Somali diplomat. As a member of both the African Union and the East African Community, Kenya is obliged to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of fellow member states. The listing of the secessionist Somali administration’s liaison office as an embassy in Nairobi has raised serious questions about the competence of senior officials at the Foreign Ministry.

An investigation is reportedly under way into allegations that the website administrators may have been bribed. “No official at the Kenyan Foreign Ministry could have authorised the inclusion of the Somaliland Liaison Office in Nairobi as number 20 on the list, right next to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia,” commented a Kenyan journalist.
Yesterday, Kenyan President William Ruto informally received the President of the Somaliland Administration, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi. Despite this meeting, Kenya officially considers the Somaliland Administration to be a Federal Member State of Somalia. The listing of the liaison office as an embassy on an official government platform remains both inaccurate and diplomatically problematic.
