Boosaaso (PP News Desk) — Puntland Defence Forces today foiled an explosives-laden pickup truck used by ISIS in a remote part of the Calmiskaad mountain range. ISIS terrorists launched attacks from a craggy part of the Calmiskaad in an attempt to break the siege before sending a heavily welded pickup truck carrying two men, one of them the driver. Puntland forces pre-empted the attack, which was aimed at causing maximum death and destruction.
An intense firefight ensued, in which more than 90 ISIS terrorists were killed. Puntland Defence Forces managed to capture new ISIS hideouts in Calmiskaad.
“Successive attempts to resort to suicide attacks by ISIS point to desperate but unsuccessful attempts to slow down the advancing Puntland Defence Forces” an officer said.
ISIS has mined parts of the Calmiskaad mountain range, particularly flat areas near villages. “ISIS has laid mines in civilian areas. Several soldiers lost their lives while defusing landmines” said an expert on explosives.
