Boosaaso (PP News Desk) — As the counterterrorism operations by the Puntland State Defence Forces against ISIS continue, enhanced security measures to monitor foreign terrorist suspects in Puntland State districts and villages have resulted in the foiling of planned terrorist activities by ISIS. In Boosaaso, the commercial city of Puntland State, security forces last night surrounded a foreigner and ISIS member who was planting an unspecified bomb on a road near the Nakeel neighbourhood of the city.
Local residents tipped off the security forces. Upon noticing the presence of the snipers, the terrorist committed suicide by detonating the bomb.
Security forces thanked the public for their role in thwarting ISIS and other terrorist organisations’ plans. ISIS has recruited many foreigners who entered Somalia undetected and ended up in the Calmiskaad mountain range. Meanwhile, Puntland Defence Forces yesterday captured the largest ISIS hideout in Calmiskaad, where terrorists had abandoned documents, ammunition and food rations.
