Boosaaso (PP News Desk) — Operation in the Calmiskaad mountains, destroying five ISIS bases.
A brief statement from Puntland’s Counter-Terrorism Operation stated that the operation targeted ISIS hideouts in the Calmiskaad mountain range, particularly in the areas of Il and Cameyra.
“In a planned operation, Puntland Defence Forces destroyed five bases belonging to [ISIS] in Il and Cameyra,” the statement read.
Reports indicate that Puntland Security Forces seized large stockpiles of supplies and food stored by terrorists in the hideouts destroyed during the operation.
Puntland Defence Forces reportedly surrounded key targets to which ISIS terrorists had retreated after successive attacks, following Puntland State’s declaration of a large-scale counterterrorism operation to root out ISIS from the mountainous areas of Bari.
