UAE Donates Emergency Humanitarian Aid to Somalia

Abdulle: “We thank the UAE for the emergency humanitarian aid.”

Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The UAE government yesterday donated 700 tonnes of food aid to Somalia. Officials from the UAE embassy in Mogadishu handed over the aid to the Director of Somali Disaster Management Agency(SoDMA) Mohamud Mo’allim Abdulle. The aid is intended to alleviate the humanitarian situation in parts of Somalia and mitigate the impact of drought that may affect many regions in 2025.

The UAE also sent consignments of aid to Boosaaso and Kismaayo. “We thank the UAE for the emergency humanitarian aid. The UAE sent 300 tonnes of the aid to Kismaayo and 200 tonnes to Boosaaso so beneficiaries can access the relief. We requested the UAE to send the humanitarian aid directly to these two regions. Here in Mogadishu, we received 200 tonnes of the humanitarian aid to be distributed to nearby federal member states, including Hirshabelle, Galmudug, Southwest and Banadir region. The UAE ambassador kindly shared with me that more humanitarian aid will arrive from the UAE before the Holy Month of Ramadan,” said Abdulle.

Ambassador Ahmed Juma Al-Rumaithi: “150,000 Somali families will benefit from the emergency aid. We thank the SoDMA leadership for their cooperation.”

The UAE ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed Juma Al-Rumaithi, stated that the UAE has sent 700 tonnes of emergency humanitarian aid to Somalia. “150,000 Somali families will benefit from the emergency aid. We thank the SoDMA leadership for their cooperation and wish Somalia peace and stability,” said the ambassador.
