Former President of Somalia Congratulates Puntland for Counterterrorism Operations

Former President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed: “I call on the Somali people to stand by their soldiers and refrain from feuding. I urge the Federal Government leaders to support the counterterrorism operations launched by Puntland State to eliminate ISIS terrorists who pose a threat to our government institutions and nation.”

Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The Former President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, sent a congratulatory message to Puntland State of Somalia today. “I congratulate the Puntland State government for the unity and cohesion its citizens have shown to the brave soldiers on the frontline, fighting terrorists,” reads a message from the former president.

“I call on the Somali people to stand by their soldiers and refrain from feuding. I urge the Federal Government leaders to support the counterterrorism operations launched by Puntland State to eliminate ISIS terrorists who pose a threat to our government institutions and nation,” the former president added.

More than 100 ISIS fighters have surrendered to Puntland State defence forces. “Many of the ISIS fighters are seeking an opportunity to defect. They know they are being used for a wrongful cause,” said one of the men who surrendered yesterday.
