Puntland Police Call for Increased Security Measures at Public Venues

Colonel Hassan Mohamed: “I urge the people of Puntland to be very vigilant, especially in public places such as hotels and business areas, which could be potential targets for terrorists.”

Garowe (PP News Desk) — The Puntland Force today issued a statement on security measures and urged the public to be extra vigilant against potential terrorist attacks in major cities.

Colonel Hassan Abdullahi Mohamed, spokesperson for the Puntland Police Force, conveyed the enhanced security measures to the media. He stressed that, in addition to security forces, private security firms and businesses such as hotels and shopping centres “are required to increase vigilance”. Security forces will focus on monitoring vehicle movements in districts and major cities.

“I also urge the people of Puntland to be very vigilant, especially in public places such as hotels and business areas, which could be potential targets for terrorists,” he added.

Puntland State Defence Forces have launched a counterterrorism operation targeting ISIS hideouts in the Bari region.
