Hargeisa (PP News Desk) — In a statement read out yesterday to the media, a Somaliland Administration spokesperson said that President Abdirahman Abdullahi (Cirro) had called for unconditional talks with any entity involved “in the eastern Somaliland conflict.”
In what is seen as a clear departure from the policy of the Somaliland Administration under former President Muse Bihi — who labelled the interim Sool, Sanaag, Ceyn, and Khatumo administration as “Al-Shabaab terrorists”—President Abdirahman toned down the conflict rhetoric, stating that his “administration is not at war with its people.”
Last month, the President of Puntland State of Somalia Said Abdullahi Deni congratulated President Abdirahman on winning the Somaliland Administration presidential elections and commended Somaliland for conducting peaceful elections. “I am hopeful that the new administration will open a new chapter of neighbourly relations with Puntland State of Somalia and the SSCK interim administration,” wrote President Deni in his congratulatory message.
