Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The Italian Ambassador to Somalia Mr Alberto Vecchi today paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Somalia Parliament Adam Mohamed Nur. Mr Nur commended Italy for its development assistance and remarkable role in state-building efforts in Somalia.
Ambassador Alberto Vecchi thanked the Speaker for the warm welcome he had received, and reiterated Italy’s continued support to Somali institutions.
Italy is a major donor country whose investments in health and educational institutions in Somalia continue to make difference. Italy has committed funds to Italian language programming at Radio Mogadishu and higher education initiatives for a country in which multiple universities have come into existence after the country’s one-time sole national university was destroyed during the civil war.
