Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The former Prime Minister of Somalia Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke had criticised the rival counterterrorism forces in Somalia.
The former Prime Minister granted an interview to Dalsan TV . He said that he had sought to facilitate peaceful solution of the stand-off in Bosaso between Puntland Security Force and Puntland State troops.
“I believe that Puntland State government can resolve the stand-off [in Boosaaso] peacefully. During my tenure as Prime Minister I devised a plan for a federal oversight of Puntland Security Force. Decentralised counterterrorism outfits cannot fight a centralised terrorist organisation such as Al-shabaab” said Sharmarke.
He claimed that he had facilitated the resolution of mutiny in Garowe when a sacked police commissioner disobeyed former Puntland President Dr Abdiweli Mohammed Ali and deployed mutineers on the outskirts of Garowe.
Sharmarke, a former Senator, is in Mogadishu where he is considering to join the Union of Presidential Candidates.
