Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The Union of Somalia Presidential Candidates (USPC) has accused Federal Member States of collusion with Villa Somalia over the electoral process.
“It has become clear to the Union of Presidential Candidates that none of the key political stakeholders has taken great pains to hold transparent elections” reads a statement released by the Union of Somalia Presidential Candidates.
The Union of Somalia Presidential Candidates, made up of two main political factions Aala Sheikh and Damuljadid led by two former Somalia Presidents, initially supported the electoral model that vests more powers in Federal Member States to oversee the electoral process.
The rebuke from the Opposition Presidential Candidates, another appellation for USPC, politically isolates presidential hopefuls, who have boycotted elections and called for a national electoral conference, a proposal that Federal Member States have unanimously rejected.
Allegations from USPC will further strain relations between Federal Member States and two former Somalia Presidents separately plotting a comeback despite alienating influential signatories of the electoral agreement.
