Puntland Health Ministry Urges Citizens to Heed Preventive Measures Against Covid-19

Garowe (PP News Desk) — Puntland Minister for Health Dr Jama Farah Hassan urged citizens to follow social distancing rules, wear a face-covering in public spaces and wash their hands regularly with soap to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“People who buy locally made face-coverings should wash the face-covering with a soap before using it” the Minister told Puntland Post. Dr Jama said that it was the mandate of the Education Ministry to ensure that schools close for two weeks as a precautionary measure if a child gets infected by COVID-19.

Jama Farah Hassan: “People should follow social distancing rules, wash their hands with soap regularly and wear a face-covering.”

“Puntland State Government has instructed non-essential public service employees to work from home” said Jama.

The Heath Minister held a meeting with Garowe business leaders to address ways to increase oxygen supply at hospitals during the second wave of Covid-19.

The Health Minister denied reports that the Ministry has yet to pay salaries of frontline health workers dealing with Covid-19 patients.
