Former Somali Foreign Minister Criticises Presidential Candidates for Scare Tactics

Hargeisa (PP News Desk) —  Ismail Hurreh Bubaa, the former Foreign Minister of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia, accused Somali Presidential Candidates of using scare tactics in the hope they can force the incumbent Somali President to relinquish power.

“Presidential Candidates have in vain used scare tactics. Somalia will conduct an indirect election. It is quite different from elections we have here in Somaliland” said Mr Ismail Bubaa.

Ismail Bubaa: Union of Presidential Candidates have unsuccessfully used scare tactics against the incumbent President.

The former Foreign Minister discounted the argument that President Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed wants to stay in power. “The Union of Presidential Candidates do not have a candidate who can defeat the incumbent President” Mr Bubaa added.

Somali Presidential Candidates have called for demonstrations in the Mogadishu tomorrow despite Somalia having no political parties contesting for elections.

Senators and MPs will select a President after the selection of the Speaker of the Parliament and Chairman of the Upper House.
