Bosaso (PP News Desk) — Puntland Security Forces have conducted a security operation in Bari region.
PSF arrested senior Al-shabaab commanders and fighters who were allegedly in charge of assembling improvised explosive devices and planting them in the main road between Karin and Galgala. PSF seized materials used for explosives. PSF has not disclosed the names and number of Al-shabaab commanders it had taken into custody.
Puntland State Television reported that the operation aims to target Al-shabaab bases in Puntland. “Security forces captured supplies, camels and donkeys Al-shabaab uses for ferrying weapons and ammunitions” reads a PSF statement posted in Facebook.
Puntland Government stepped up pressure on Al-shabaab and ISIS fighters in hideouts at hard-to-access parts of Bari, a region known for mountains and treacherous, unpaved routes.
