Garowe (PP News Desk) — The loss of eight MPs’ parliamentary immunity is legal, Puntland Supreme Court ruled today. The hearing of the case began yesterday despite protestations from MPs who challenged the hearing on both legal and ethical grounds.
The Supreme Court ordered the eight MPs not to return to the parliament premises and instructed the Parliament to replace them.

According to the Supreme Court the eight Puntland MPs were found guilty of property destruction and constitutional violations. The Supreme Court ruled the eight MPs are liable for damages.
Puntland Parliament MPs denied that they had asked for the Court to look into case. They accuse the Court of bias and treating a criminal case as an administrative one.
