Jowhar (PP News Desk) — The Parliament of Hirshabelle State today elected Ali Abdullahi Gudlawe a President. Gudlawe garnered 86 votes to beat his rival Abdirahman Jimale Osman, who received 13 votes.

Gudlawe was born in Mahaday district of Middle Shabelle. Between 2001 and 2006 he was the head of finance for the administration headed by the late Mohamed Dhere. In 2014 he was appointed the Governor of Middle Shabelle, a position he held until 2016, the year he was elected the Vice President of Hirshabelle State.
Gudlawe campaigned on a reform ticket and an initiative to empower youths to play key roles in the public sector.
