Garowe (PP News Desk) — The Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission publicised today the number of political associations that will contest the 2021 pilot local elections in Puntland.
“Four political associations have merged. Two political associations have failed to meet the criteria for becoming a political association codified in the Political Associations Act of Puntland. After assessing applications submitted political associations the Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission resolved to publicise the names of ten political associations that met the criteria to become a political association” reads the TPEC statement.
The pilot local elections are slated to take place in three designated Puntland districts in March 2021.
In July some political associations held conferences in Garowe. Only three political organisations will graduate to political parties af local elections despite Puntland controlling more than nine districts in Mudug, Nugal and Bari regions.
