Bosaso (PP News Desk) — The First Level Court of Bari region has sentenced Ruqiyo Abdirahman Mohammed to death by a firing squad.
Ruqiya confessed to have stolen one-year old child who died in her house. “The cause of the child’s death has not been established. The defendant admitted to child theft “ said Abukar Abdinur Jama, Chairman of the First Level Court in Bosaso.
The Court Chairman said that Ismail Ali Nur, the husband of Ruqiya, had seen the newly-born baby in his house and that the baby was bigger than the baby his wife had given birth to. “Ismail did not share his suspicion with the law enforcement agencies” said Jama in a statement for the media.
The court has sentenced Ismail Ali Nur to three years in jail for facilitating child theft. Both Ruqia and Ismail have the option to appeal against the respective rulings within thirty days.
