Badhan (PP News Desk) — A plane carrying medical equipment yesterday touched down at Badhan airport.
The plan to deliver the medical assistance for the people of Badhan was almost scuppered when officials from Puntland State Government tried to delay the clearance for the plane to land in Badhan. The intervention of traditional leaders in Eastern Sanaag paved the way for the arrival of the aircraft from Mogadishu after twenty-four hour delay.
The Federal Government of Soma has allocated direct medical assistance for districts designated as Disputed Territories claimed by Puntland State and Somaliland.
A similar plane delivered medical equipment for Buhodle distrit of Togdheer region two days ago. A spokesman for Somaliland Government in Lasanod criticised the Federal Government for the direct medical assistance to Buhodle. He described the delegation of MPs that delivered the medical equipment to Buhodle “as people who do not represent the district”.
