Hargeisa (PP News) — The Somaliland Committee for the Prevention of Covid-19 issued yesterday a statement to end the moratorium on khat imports from Ethiopia.
The committee published guidelines that khat sellers will comply with. From today (Sunday ) Khat sellers will have to abide by the following strict procedures to be able to sell khat in Somaliland:
- Two-metre space between two persons selling khat.
- Khat sellers must wear a face mask.
- They must keep hand sanitasers handy.
- Khat sellers must have fever detection devices to check the temperatures of the staff before business starts.
- Buyers should observe two-metre space social distancing rule.
- Khat chewers must not meet at majlises (khat chewing sessions).
Violators will face consequences ranging from a fine to a loss of khat retail licenses.
