Mogadishu (PP News Desk) The Attorney General of Federal Government of Somalia Suleyman Mohammed Mohamud today briefed the media about an investigation into allegations of corruption at the Federal Ministry of Health.
“The investigation has so far uncovered evidence of misappropriation and false invoices” said the Attorney General. “The corruption has spread to other Federal Ministries, involves departmental directors and private companies. Twenty people have been arrested as a result of ongoing investigations in conjunction with the Office of the Auditor General.”
The Attorney General assured the public that the investigation is being carried out in line with legal procedures and that any loss of liberty by people under investigation complies with due process.
“We have frozen and investigated bank accounts into which money from undue dealings at the heart of the investigation was deposited” said the Attorney General.
