Erigavo ( PP News Desk ) — Reports from Erigavo indicate militias from two subclans clashed yesterday at Fadhigaab area in Sanaag region.
Two people have died in the clashes. Three men sustained serious wounds. Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi called on the two sides to cease hostilities and solve differences peacefully. The cause of clashes has yet to established.
A committee made up of traditional leaders, educators and religious leaders reconciled the two subclans several months ago. A common principle to which two sides agreed was to refer any incident to the regional authorities to prevent the area from plunging into a vicious circe of feuding. Sanaag has seen a spate of feuding over the last three weeks.
“It is unfortunate that citizens have lost their lives to senseless violence at a time we are grappling with Covid-19” said Ahmed Hersi, a traditional leader in Erigavo.
