FORUM FOR NATIONAL PARTIES CONDEMNS “A FAILED AMBUSH” AGAINST A FORMER PRESIDENT

Desk) — The Mogadishu-based Forum for National Parties has issued a statement accusing the Federal Government of Somalia of “what appeared to be an attempted attack against the leader of the Forum”, Former President Shariif Sheikh Ahmed. “The forum views the incident as a plot to destabilise the country,  masterminded by Villa Somalia” the statement reads.

“There is no a reason to deploy troops near the house of Sheikh Sharif at night.”  The Forum urged the Federal Government to finalise the draft constitution, spearhead efforts to defeat the terrorist group controlling parts of Southern Somalia and prepare the country for 2021 elections. The Forum urged Somali forces not to allow to be used for political and destabilisation purposes.

Former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed leads Forum for National Parties

The Federal Minister for Security Mohamed Islow denied reports about the alleged deployment of troops near the accommodation of the former President of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia.

“The Federal Government owes the former President a respect. We categorically deny reports that the Federal Government had deployed troops by the house of Sharif Sheikh Ahmed” the Security Minister wrote in statement for the media.
