LASANOD ( PP ) — The Chairman of Sool Regional Court, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, died after explosives fitted into his car had exploded east of Lasanod.
People in Eastern neighbourhoods of the city heard the massive explosion. Sool Regional Police Commander, Ahmed Abdullahi, said “investigation is under way to identify perpetrators“.
Shocked residents swarmed to the site of the explosion. It is the third documented attack involving an improvised explosive device in Sool. In 2009 a senior Somaliland commander, Osman Yusuf Nuh, lost his life after explosives fitted into a vehicle exploded.
The former Sool governor Farah Askar survived a similar attack the same year.
