Garowe ( PP News Desk ) The Somali National News Agency Facebook account posted and then deleted a story from the Uganda-based online newspaper, busiweek. The story alleged that talks between the President of Federal Government Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed and President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland had ended in failure over the UAE plans to expand Berbera Port.

Other Somali news websites re-published the busiweek story. SONNA used the same picture as Busiweek’s story along with the text. It is not clear who alerted SONNA about the unsubstantiated news published by busiweek, which describes itself as “a leading online business newspaper that provides definite coverage of trade, investment and finance news from an Eastern African prospective.”SONNA kept the Busiweek story in its Twitter page, which has sixteen thousand followers. It deleted the story from its Twitter handle as well.

There is a fake Facebook SONNA account that claims to be the “Somali News Agency”. The rival account identifies itself as a media/news company affiliated with somalinewspaper.com.
